Harold Arthur Gee: Custom Stereo Cards & A Print.

GEE, Arthur Harold (b. 1880 Redruth d. 1956 Newton Ferrers, Devon) worked as an Assistant Surveyor, Probate Surveyor, and as common in the day, served alongside Ugandans in the Kings African Rifles, where he was a known good shot of the Uganda Rifle Corps, and the Volunteer Reserve. He was also a draughtsman, in between, he ventured into the coffee planting boom.
His descendants availed his photo collection to us to share. Parts of it from Uganda are mostly stereographic mounts that seem to have been made in a custom way that gives for a “twitchy” animation affect if made into a frame animation, and one relatively large print of what appears like a K.A.R column on a surveying or related expedition.
There’s a curious page from a book; – A History of Uganda Land and Surveys and of the Uganda land and Survey Department By H. B. Thomas, O.B.E, and A. E. Spencer, M.B.E, – gives a list of British surveys and what nick-names Ugandans gave them, Gee seems to have survived this game.
That’s as much of the context these pictures were made from that we have so far.
We hope for more information from the family, or anybody that identifies and comments on the pictures.
