This image appears in Volume 1 of Sir Harry Johnston’s ‘George Grenfell and the Congo’ published in 1908. The photograph is credited to Grenfell. The two ‘Bambute pygmies’ are named as Azimbambuli and Abumbuku and are from the Nepoko area in Eastern Congo. I wonder how it ended up with Fisher?

Thank you for this addition! While this reproduction is in a box with other negatives made by Fisher it could also have been made (a couple of decades later) by Dr. Schofield. That does not answer your question am afraid… Just widens the scope for an answer.
